Who are we?

In partnership with Matt’s Makerspace and Project Base Plate, Mr. Mikesell and Mrs. Amenta have both been trained by Play Included® which is the leading training provider and creator of the Brick-by-Brick® program, supporting children's social, emotional, and communication development with LEGO® play.

Mellon Brick Buds is a weekly after-school program on Mondays from 3-4 p.m at Mellon Middle School in the Mt. Lebanon School District.

Our goal is to develop 21st-century skills while learning how to communicate effectively. Our brick club allows us to teach social-emotional skills, teamwork, and collaboration, and build friendships while creating awesome LEGO® designs.

The Brick-by-Brick program offers children positive, meaningful experiences in a playful and accepting environment. Through collaborative LEGO® play, children have fun, make friends, and develop their communication skills, confidence, and social and emotional well-being. Over time, children develop a sense of community and belonging through their shared interest in building LEGO® models.

Collaborative Theme Build

During this free build collaborative activity, teams picked a theme, completed a free build for 10 minutes, and switched groups. By the end, the entire group had created and finished each theme. The results were fantastic!
